The March For Education Foundation recognizes the many inspiring people in the community who advocate for students' needs and empower the youth. Our mission is to connect them to as many young people as possible. This will give young people the advantage of learning from mentors, asking questions that may benefit their futures, and being able to see role models in action. Whenever we host an event, we present people from the community who will deliver positive, encouraging messages of success by sharing personal knowledge/experience of a given topic. |

Gun Violence and our special guests
Patience Carter and Tia Parker shot in Orlando's Pulse Nightclub comes to Bridgeport to speak about Gun Violence
|
Mr. Wayne Winston invited Ms. Tia Parker and Ms. Patience Carter to speak at the eighth annual March For Education festival concerning gun violence in our communities.
They were two of the many survivors of the June 12, 2016 Orlando Shooting and were shot during the incident. We thank them for taking the time out of their lives to come and give the powerful message to our students in hopes that our communities see the very negative impact gun violence can have on someone's life. |
Bridgeport CT and the Board of Education
The Bridgeport Board of Education was in chaos recently with infighting and inappropriate behavior from members of the committee. The March For Education Foundation looked at the situation from a student's point of view and realized it was not the best example for young people to witness.
We then went on News 12 to voice this concern to the public and hoped that the fighting would cease in the community.
Mrs. Rabinowitz ultimately didn't remain on the board as Interim Superintendent but most of the infighting is out of the public arena.

Writing letters of recommendations and references
Volunteering or participating in March for Education events is an excellent way for every student to gain valuable experience that will benefit them in many ways. Students will learn team work, organizational skills and community responsibility. The experience will look great on their resumes and will be seen as extremely positive by college recruiters and future employers.
If you have participated in previous March for Education events or activities and are seeking employment or attempting to enter college, please let us know and we will submit a letter of recommendation to your potential employer or anticipated college describing the work you have done for the organization. We will give you the best because you gave us your best!
